Electrical Principles One

Who should attend

This course is designed for delegates who have little or no knowledge of electrical principles.

Objectives

On successful completion of the course delegates will be able to:

  • Explain basic electron theory
  • Demonstrate an understanding of ohms law
  • Identify the difference between series and parallel circuits
  • Understand the principles of magnetism
  • Carry out basic electrical tests
  • Understand the principles of AC generators/AC power
  • Explain inductance and capacitance
  • Test transformers/transformer rectifiers and understand their principles

Learning approach

50% theory using PowerPoint, active discussion, diagrams and visual aids

50% practical with demonstrations on a variety of electrical and electronic equipment and hands-on practice with test meters.

A theory assessment will be carried out to check delegates' understanding.

Pre-requisites

Ideally the candidate will have a good knowledge of the English language and some electrical experience would be an advantage
