Signalling Installation

Who should attend

This course is designed for signalling staff who will potentially be installing signalling equipment within location cases.

Objectives

On successful completion of this course delegates will be able to demonstrate an understanding of:

  • Installation of location case mounting bars and beta duct to the relevant standards
  • Wiring, beading, crimping and terminating internal wires
  • Correctly marking up the location diagram to show wires run/terminated and continuity tested.
  • Wiring of disconnection boxes
  • Wiring and continuity testing of AWS, TPWS and track tails
  • Cable jointing and heat shrinking of multicore cables
  • Minor location case modifications including removal and refitting of equipment
Learning approach

20% Theory based with PowerPoint presentations, demonstrations, videos and open discussions.
80% Practical based, fitting out and wiring a location case to the relevant standards.

Pre-requisites

Delegates are expected to have attended a Basic Diagram Reading course or have a good understanding of reading location drawings before attending this course.
