Who should attend

Delegates who require a basic understanding of Points and who have little or no Points experience.

Objectives

The course will provide an overview of:

  • Mechanical components of points including different types of stretcher bars
  • Rail sections, switch types and layouts
  • Principle of operation of point machines and clamplocks
  • Electrical operation overview for HW2000 / Clamplocks
  • General adjustment and gauging of points

Learning approach

50% classroom-based including theory sessions using PowerPoint presentations and visual aids.
50% practical sessions on a working HW2000 point machine.
Theory and practical assessments to verify delegates understanding.

Pre-requisites

Ideally the candidates should have attended a Basic Signalling 1 and Diagram Reading course or equivalent.
