Who should attend

This course is designed for signalling staff who will potentially be installing signalling equipment within location cases and trackside equipment.

Objectives

On successful completion of this course delegates will:

  • Demonstrate a good understanding of the Signalling Installation Handbook
  • Be capable of constructing the framework for location cases and REB's
  • Be capable of cutting and fitting the appropriate ducting to relevant frames
  • Understand the importance of using the correct calibrated crimp tools
  • Understand the correct termination of wires using the appropriate crimps for the type of wire
  • Wire a location case to a signalling diagram and the latest relevant standards
  • Be capable of continuity testing a frame to verify the correct termination of wires
  • Terminate tail cables and clamp within loc case
  • Wire a dis-box to the relevant standard
  • Continuity test internal cables within a location case
  • Mark up location diagrams in the correct manner
  • Complete modifications in a live working location case safely and to the correct standards.

30% Theory based with PowerPoint presentations and active discussions.
70% Practical based building locations to relevant standards.

Pre-requisites

Delegates are expected to be able to read location diagrams and/or have attended a diagram reading course prior to attending this event.
