Who should attend

This course is designed for maintenance or testing staff who require the additional knowledge and understanding of TPWS.

Objectives

On successful completion of the course delegates will be able to:

  • Name all the module components within the TPWS system.
  • Explain the operation and principles of the TPWS system.
  • Test to SMTH standards the TPWS equipment which is trackside.
  • Remove and refit TPWS equipment to SMTH standards.
  • Understand basic faults and be able to rectify them.
  • Basic equipment ordering and surveying replacement needs.

Learning approach

50% classroom based with PowerPoint presentations, DVD and theory scenarios.

50% Practical sessions maintaining and testing TPWS to required Network Rail Standards.
Theory and practical assessments to verify the knowledge and understanding of the candidates.

Delegates must have a good working knowledge of the Railway Signalling Infrastructure.
