SMTH (Signal Maintenance Testing Handbook) Practical Assessment

Number of Delegates: 1

Duration: 1 day

Location: Horsley Cross

Who should attend

Infinity Training is an RTAS-assured training and assessment provider (RTAS0506), approved to complete this assessment.

The assessment has been designed for delegates who hold Competent Signal Maintainance Tester on Sentinel.  Delegates are required to have already completed the SMTH Competent Tester Pre-Practical Knowledge Test.

Objectives

Delegates are required to complete a practical assessment at an approved Network Rail training centre prior to the expiry date on Sentinel.

This will include all the following core skills where they are already held:

  • Core Skills
  • Aspect Testing
  • Points Testing
  • Cable Function Testing
  • Diversion of a Circuit

Any additional competences relating to SMTH or G110 must be assessed on a separate day.

Learning approach

This is a practical assessment of a competence and is therefore a full day of practical assessments.

By the end of this assessment, delegates will have proved their competence in SMTH. On successful completion of all assessments, delegates will have their competences uploaded to Sentinel.

Pre-requisites

Candidates must hold valid Competent Signal Maintenance Tester competence on Sentinel. Delegates should bring with them SMTH, SMS and relevant sections of the Rule Book.

Delegates will be required to prove that they have been completing SMTH work within the last two years. This is normally in the form of SMTH logbook slips.

Delegates are required to sit the SMTH Competent Tester Pre-Practical Knowledge Test prior to completing the SMTH practical assessment. The theory test can be completed up to 12 months prior to the attending the practical assessment.
