Signal Works Testing Module 3C

Who should attend

This course is designed for testing staff that are to lead testing activities. Delegates should have a sound knowledge in Railway Signalling activities and ideally hold an assistant testers qualification.

Objectives

On successful completion of the course delegates will be able to:

  • Prepare and plan work to lead a testing team
  • Inspect a location case, equipment room or control panels to relevant documentation and record its compliance to the design in a recognised and controlled manner.
  • Lead a team in the verification of testing cables, including wire counting and continuity testing.
  • Earth test all relevant equipment
  • Prepare for and test equipment ready for controlled changeovers
  • Carry out modifications and controlled changes to non-commissioned circuitry
  • Verification of SSI TFM plug coupler wiring
  • Record results from tests and report irregularities in a controlled manner.

Learning approach

30% classroom sessions with instructional demonstrations and practical exercises
70% practical working on live equipment under the supervision of the Instructor
Theory assessment followed by an independent one full day practical assessment on a variety of equipment.

Pre-requisites

Delegates should have achieved Module 5 Testing Assistant competence and have a full understanding of wiring diagrams.
