Objectives

By the end of this course successful delegates will be able to:

  • Understand the principles of a basic DC track circuit
  • Undertake track circuit testing as guided by Network Rail instructions
  • Understand the working components of a DC track circuit
  • Be capable of fault-finding and rectifying the fault
  • Maintain the DC track circuit to Network Rail instructions

Learning approach

40% classroom-based using proactive discussions regarding diagrams and drawings.
60% practical-based on a live DC track circuit
Theory and practical assessments will be undertaken to check the delegates understanding.

Pre-requisites

Delegates are expected to have a basic understanding of the signalling industry and have experience of reading diagrams.
