Who should attend

This course is designed for new entry staff with little or no experience of the railway signalling industry who wish to improve their understanding of signalling principles.

Objectives

On successful completion of the training course the delegates will have a basic understanding of the following:

  • Railway signalling relays
  • A variety of train detection methods
  • Signalling cables, wires and routes
  • Signals, AWS and TPWS
  • Point machines and Clamplocks
  • Signalling drawings and diagrams

Learning approach

90% classroom-based with PowerPoint presentations and visual aids.
10% practical-based
Basic theory assessment to gauge the understanding of the delegate.

Pre-requisites

None required but basic railway terminology from the PTS course would be an advantage
