Signal Works Testing Module 5

Who should attend

This course is designed for delegates who plan to undertake a role as Test Assistant. It is for delegates who already have a railway signalling background and are familiar with basic circuitry.

Objectives

On successful completion of the training course the delegates will have a basic understanding of the following:

  • What is expected of a MOD5 tester
  • How to undertake inspections of cables/wires
  • Wire count under direction of testers
  • Using straps and applying false feeds in a controlled safe manner under direction of a tester
  • Undertaking inspection and testing of HW2000 point machines and clamplocks under supervision of a tester
  • Undertaking testing of track circuits under guidance
  • Observing relay operation and identification
  • Observing and reporting aspect testing
  • Working in locations and interlockings
  • Assisting during panel testing

Learning approach

40% classroom-based using diagrams, PowerPoint presentations and visual aids.
60% practical sessions working on a variety of equipment.
Theory and practical assessments are undertaken to verify delegates understanding.

Pre-requisites

Ideally the candidate should have attended a Diagram Reading course, SPWEE and a Basic Signalling One course or equivalent.
