Who should attend

Delegates who want to further their career in Railway Signalling and widen their existing knowledge into more advanced areas.

Objectives

On successful completion of the training course the delegates will be able to:

  • Demonstrate an understanding in different power supplies and know their uses
  • Identify different cables and wires in a variety of signalling equipment and associate them with relevant diagrams
  • Understand signalling diagrams associated with point controls and indicators
  • Explain and demonstrate an understanding of basic fault finding techniques
  • Understanding some maintenance techniques and know where to look for information

What we cover:

  • Test meters overview
  • Track circuits including testing of a DC track circuit
  • Relays in more complex circuits
  • Signals and control circuits
  • Cables including continuity, core to core and core to earth testing
  • Fault finding basic principles and practice
  • Introduction to HW2000 point machines including FPL
  • Introduction to Clamplocks including FPL

In addition to this, delegates undertake a variety of fault finding within an REB and on trackside equipment, test DC track circuits, complete earth testing and learn how to FPL test Clamplocks and HW point machines.

Pre-requisites

Ideally the candidates would have attended a Basic Signalling One course or have equivalent experience
