Who should attend

This course is designed for signalling staff who will be working on Solid State Interlocking plug couplers within signalling equipment rooms or location cases.

Objectives

On successful completion of this course delegates will be able to:

  • Demonstrate a good understanding of how to install crimps within SSI plug couplers
  • Understand the tools required to install and remove crimps from SSI plug couplers
  • Cut wires to appropriate lengths, crimp, terminate and clamp wires within an SSI plug coupler
  • Interpret SSI plug coupler diagrams and mark-up the drawings to the Signalling Installation Handbook
  • Refit plug couplers ready to terminate into the associated modules
  • Continuity test the plug coupler to relevant diagrams
  • Remove and refit crimps without damaging the SSI plug coupler
  • Understand the different types of plug couplers and relevance of the guide pins/screws.

Learning approach

30% Theory based with PowerPoint presentations and active discussions.

70% Practical based wiring SSI plug couplers, continuity testing, and marking up diagrams to relevant standards.

Delegates are expected to have good installation skills and relevant signalling diagram knowledge.
