This course is designed for any signalling staff who may work in an area where there is likely to be wire degradation.

On successful completion of the course delegates will be able to:

• Understand how wire degradation occurs
• Inspect location cases and REBs and highlight where there is wire degradation
• Be capable of categorising each site to different degradation levels
• Understand what work is permitted at different category levels
• Know how to report major issues of wire degradation

40% classroom based training using PowerPoint presentations, scenarios and active discussions with delegates.

60% practical based performing degradation checks in location cases and REBs/equipment rooms.

Theory and practical assessments will take place to assess the individual’s understanding and knowledge requirements.

Ideally the candidate should have attended SPWEE and Diagram Reading courses and have a good basic signalling knowledge.
