This course is designed for signalling engineers who already hold the competence of 3BL Functional Tester and are looking to progress their career to also become a Module 4 Functional Tester.

On successful completion of the course delegates will be able to: 

• Describe the principles of Module 4 Functional testing 
• Prepare and complete tests on a variety of trackside equipment
• Complete verification of trackside equipment installations
• Carry out functional testing of trackside equipment including points, signals, TPWS, AWS and track circuits
• Record errors and faults on test logs
• Record testing activities correctly on relevant diagrams

30% classroom sessions with instructional demonstrations and practical exercises

70% practical working on live equipment under the supervision of the Instructor

Theory assessment followed by an independent one full day practical assessment on a variety of equipment.

Delegates should have achieved Module 3BL competence andhave a full understanding of wiring diagrams.
